Rochester Animal Services teams up with WNY Flash for adoption kick off event

On Saturday, July 30th, Rochester Animal Services and the WNY Flash team up for the official kickoff of Phase II in this year’s ASPCA Shelter Challenge.

The event, located in Brown Square Park, will feature:

  • Autograph/photos with select WNY Flash players
  • Free Youth soccer clinic
  • “Rec on the Move”
  • Microchip identification clinic ($30)
  • Free rabies clinic
  • Free pet nail trimmings
  • Become a shelter volunteer and get free tickets to Aug 3 WNY Flash game

You can also take advantage of adoption discounts and dog licensing. There is no charge for admission and there will be food and refreshment vendors on hand. Attendees will have a chance to pick up some tips and have some fun with the WNY Flash players.

Rochester Animal Services is the only shelter in our area competing in round two of the ASPCA Shelter Challenge, which will award much needed funds to shelters across the country who increase their adoptions the most over last year at this time. There are also regional prizes – but it’s the animals that are the real winners.

The event will happen at Brown Square Park and Animal Services Center, 184 Verona Street, Rochester, NY 14608. That’s right near Kodak and Frontier Field. There is free parking in Kodak Lot D with entry from Brown Street.

You can learn more on the RAS website.

Thanks for voting! RAS moves into the next round!

Even the pups are happy that we've moved on to the next round!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who took time to vote for Rochester Animal Services in this last qualifying round of the ASPCA $100k shelter challenge!

We wanted to move on in first place, just to keep up the momentum, but the good folks down at The Humane Society of South Mississippi snuck ahead, leaving us in second place. But that’s OK! It’s all in good fun and all for a worthy cause!

The next round involves increasing the number of our adoptions over last year, form August to October. How can you help?

We really need businesses and organizations willing to host adoption events – meaning we’ll show up with some dogs and cats and invite the public to come and adopt animals! We’re willing to be creative – your work, store, think outside the box! It’s a great way to raise awareness about your business while helping animals at the same time. And it’s lots of fun!

Again, thank you so much for taking time to support Rochester Animal Services, the city’s animal shelter. And if you’re bored on this rainy day, stop down and visit with the animals! We’re open Saturdays from noon to 3:30. You can get more info at http://rochesteranimalservices.com/

Last day to vote for RAS in the ASPCA shelter challenge!

You guys are the best! We ended yesterday in first place in the ASPCA shelter challenge – but only by about 600 votes. Even though the top 50 shelters move on, we’re really motivated to go to the next round in first place and keep up the community momentum. So vote today! You have until 11:59 PM eastern time!
